"If as humans we plan to set up Moon and Mars bases, doesn't it make sense that an alien species may have done the same to the Earth however long ago? ![]() "Often UFOs were seen going into and emerging from the oceans of the world. Mr Heseltine told The Sun Online: " UFOs begun to show up in increasing frequency near nuclear power plants, nuclear storage facilities and nuclear weapons story areas. The five month deadline elapses on in June, with some UFO lobbyists claiming it could be the “most profound moment in human history". No outside the secretive wings of the US government currently knows for sure.Īnd as a tacked on addendum to a 5,500 page Covid relief bill passed in December, the the Director of National Intelligence’s office was ordered to compile a report on UFOs within 180 days.įormer intelligence director John Ratcliffe has hinted the report will be a big deal – and we now just over a month away from its release. However, it was replaced by the UAP Task Force in June 2020 after a vote by the US Senate Intelligence Committee.ĭefence chiefs have since confirmed a number of leaked UFO videos and photos which were submitted to the Task Force for investigation. The US also confirmed the existence of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) – a Pentagon programme set up to study UFOs before being disbanded in 2017. Perhaps the most striking was a video known as the “Tic Tac” – which showed an unidentified object being pursued by fighter planes. The debate is still open as to what the phenomena caught on film were – but it made clear to everyone, something is in the skies. "Much more awaits us.Pentagon officials last year took the unprecedented step to confirm a trio of remarkable videos which showed US encounters with UFOs. Approximately 200 tactical B61 bombs of all versions remain in the stockpile. A third version, the B61-10, was retired in September 2016. The weapon exists in two modifications: the B61-3 and the B61-4. "We are just seeing the early signs of a nuclear race," he says. The United States has one type of nonstrategic nuclear weapon in its stockpile: the B61 gravity bomb. Ultimately, Zhao says, he believes China's nuclear forces are going to keep growing in coming years. "There is deep and longstanding suspicion within the Chinese expert community about arms control," he says. Zhao says that appetite for negotiations within the Chinese government is also low. has failed to take seriously China's concerns about things such as missile defense. Lewis says arms control negotiations have gone nowhere, in part because the U.S. and China currently do not have any nuclear arms control pacts and "because we don't have that kind of dialogue, we're just guessing," Lewis says. ![]() Chinese Embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu rejected such allegations as "irresponsible."įiguring out exactly what's going on at a remote site like Lop Nur is nearly impossible without on-the-ground access of the sort that sometimes comes with arms control agreements. Such tests would not trigger a full-scale detonation, but they would run counter to a voluntary "zero yield" standard adhered to by the U.S., U.K. But earlier this year, a State Department report expressed concern that China may be conducting very small-scale tests using nuclear material at Lop Nur. Such testing often involves only the nonnuclear components of a weapon. Without access to the site, it's hard to tell what exactly is going on "I am someone who thinks that it is probably what are called 'subcritical' nuclear tests, which the United States also does underground at our nuclear test site in Nevada," he says. Though, he notes, China's nuclear policy is shrouded in secrecy.īased in part on the relatively small size of the mountains where the tunnel is being dug, Lewis thinks the new tunnel will support smaller tests. "My guess is that this new nuclear buildup really receives support from the highest level," Zhao says. He believes that China will continue to add silos, road-mobile missiles, submarines and bombers in the coming years. "Increasingly, people are saying that a bigger arsenal will provide China with geopolitical benefit it will make American decision-makers think twice," Zhao says. Tong Zhao, a researcher at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace based in Beijing, says he also sees evidence that China is starting to move away from that traditional view of nuclear weapons. "Part of their strategy is to try to build out those numbers," he says. He says he thinks China is now growing its nuclear arsenal as part of a much larger push to become a dominant global power. Ashley Jr., an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security and former head of the U.S. "When you look at their numbers juxtaposed against ours, it's a pretty significant difference," says Robert P. "It was never important for them to engage in the kind of arms race that you saw between the United States and the Soviet Union," says Lewis.
